Reading – Monolog einer Zimmerpflanze / Monologue of a houseplant
An expansive reading by Sibylle Ciarloni
“Monolog einer Zimmerpflanze” by Sibylle Ciarloni
Sibylle Ciarloni was already a guest at Haus zur Glocke in March 2019, together with Rahel Kraft, with the reading “Alles in Ordnung” from the story collection “Bernstein und Valencia”. The day after tomorrow, Sunday, at 5 p.m., she will now read from her new text “Monolog einer Zimmerpflanze”. Indoor plants are observers of what happens within the room. They come from somewhere, and then they’re there, even at night and certainly during the day. They are there to be beautiful. They don’t speak. Except for one. She asks, “You know what it means when we term each other ‘you’?” It grows into the room. What is she searching for?
Sibylle Ciarloni writes narratives and spoken texts for stage and radio, thematic papers and books. “Monolog einer Zimmerpflanze” is a recent work. Ciarloni used to produce the monthly radio magazine “Auf hoher See” (literature, music, waves). Today, she stands in front of an audience with her texts. Her work is published in anthologies and literary journals. “Strandläufer, lungomare” was published as a photo essay in 2017.
